What is AlienBeatPoet?
AlienBeatPoet is a repository for Mike Barber's many different artistic endeavours. Think of it as an umbrella corporation, but with a focus on art rather than plundering, pillaging and general capitalist evil.
Who is Mike Barber?
Mike Barber can be described, should one feel the need to describe him, by many words: musician, composer, poet, filmmaker, village idiot... Each one befitting in its own right. Some might describe such a Renaissance man as multi-talented, others as a "hack-of-all-trades". Either way, they would be correct.
In all seriousness, Mike Barber is known for different things, but is primarily known for being a musician. His beatnik stylings are obvious when one listens to his avant-garde performances. He is a free-jazz bassist who seeks to merge Zen meditation with his playing, what he characterizes as "Zen jazz". In his words: "meditation practice and music practice are the same. Playing is meditation, meditation is playing."
